Where Have I Been?

I haven’t posted much this month. A lot has been happening in my life. It’s a mixture of good and bad.

Roughly three weeks ago I had an epiphany. I don’t want to go back to college to finish my degree in Accountancy. It was never my choice to take it up but I endured more or less four years of it (it’s a five-year course in my college). I also had a partial scholarship, so I couldn’t pass up the opportunity. It was a great school that helped me a lot to boost my self-esteem. But I want to be a book blogger.

My love has and will always be books. I started reading when I was in first grade. The library in St. Scholastica’s Academy of Marikina was magical. There were little shelves filled with fairytale books, pillows and stuff toys scattered across the carpeted floor. I’m not sure if that’s still the case but that was a memory I will treasure forever. I admit that my reading took a hiatus when I reached fifth grade (I transferred schools) until freshmen year. Then, I became addicted to Twilight and the rest is history.

I started writing fanfictions too, but I have a hard time finishing it. I have so many ideas for a story but I always fail to commit. I discovered the wonders of ebooks and ARCs… which is a good thing because paperback are too damn expensive. Writing reviews gave me so much joy. I love expressing my love for books. It’s also a good feeling to help authors in supporting and promoting their books.

Two weeks ago my younger brother was rushed to the hospital. He puked twice and complains about stomach aches. The doctor told us he needs to undergo an operation to remove his appendix. It was not ruptured yet but it’s only a matter of time. Three days later, he was fit to go home. The hospital bill racked up to Php 83k. We have made a down payment of Php 10k a day before and my mother’s health insurance (Philhealth) covered Php 24k only. We only managed Php 34k that night and, thankfully, two of the doctors granted our request for promissory note. We have to pay the remaining balance of Php 15k until August 15.

Almost all my saving for school is gone. I felt like my world was crashing down (dramatic, I know). Just when I finally realize what I want to do with my life, I’m back to square one. I can’t leave a stable job when we’re facing a financial crisis. I have to put on hold what I want. Again. I thought that by August I’ll be blogging about books like a mad person. I want to have a very active blog, but I can’t do that anymore.

I’m not giving up reading and blogging books. I think I’ll go mad if I did. I can post five times in a week but no promises. I hope you guys can understand.

THE RED

Never make a promise you don’t intend to keep…

Mona Lisa St. James made a deathbed promise that she would do anything it took to save her mother’s gallery, The Red. Unfortunately, the gallery is well-named—not only is it painted red, but it’s in the red. Mona soon realizes she has no choice but to sell it.

However, a mysterious man comes in after closing time and makes her an offer she cannot refuse: He will save The Red if she agrees to submit to him sexually for the period of one year.

The man is handsome, English, and terribly tempting. But surely her mother didn’t mean for Mona to sell herself to a strange man.

Then again, Mona did promise to do anything it took to save The Red…

Out on July 11,  2017.

A Bit of Adulting

I haven’t posted anything for one week and two days.

I promise I had good reasons. It was such a busy and painful week so, I’ll just break it down for you.

April 22 (Saturday): Mother had a vacation planned with her friends leaving me and my brother to fend for ourselves till Sunday night. I decided to do the groceries using my own money (I know I’m so proud of myself for pitching in, lol). I bought snacks, candies, instant noodles and canned goods.  It was so unhealthy but it was the weekend and I’m not in the mood to cook anything. And we can just order out, you know. Also, The Originals was on that night. I just slept after watching it.

April 23 (Sunday): I finished my ARC of The Red by Tiffany Reisz. I loved it! I was drafting my review but the internet started acting up and I decided to get a break from it. My brother and I were bored so we decided to clean the house and do some laundry.

April 24 (Monday): I’m really planning on posting something but my tabby cat gave birth to five kitties! I was so worried because she’s been pregnant forever. I’m just happy that they’re all healthy and mommma cat is so damn protective, I can’t get a pic of those babies. Anyway, that distracted me the whole day.

April 25 (Tuesday): My friends asked me out to lunch. I haven’t seen them in almost two months so I jump right ahead. They’re so busy with school and even though I feel left out sometimes I just lend them my ear when they feel like ranting. I can’t say I know or understand what they’re feeling and going through but I’ll always be there to support and uplift them.

April 26 (Wednesday): This is just a lazy day. Didn’t have the energy to do anything but lounge in bed after work and wait for The Flash. And of course, eat lotsa food.

April 27 (Thursday): I went out with my high school friends. Shoot the shit and everything. I haven’t seen the some of them for two years. Growing up sucks sometimes. Anyway, I went home late so couldn’t really post anything.

April 28-30 (Friday – Sunday): I woke up feeling shit last Friday. Wisdom tooth sucks. Basically it’s a very shitty weekend. I didn’t do anything but lay in bed and writhe in pain.

May 1 (Monday): What a way to start the month. I had freaking allergies! My two best friends and I were planning a virtual drinking session but my nose won’t stop sneezing and running. My gahd, it totally ruined my day but I still had fun with them so there’s that.

I’m feeling fine now. Nose is on good condition. Body is not itching. Hopefully, I’ll have a great week ahead so I can post more. Wish me best!

Happy reading!

NOW LIVE: Tortured by Nicole Williams

Tortured

Tortured

When he left for a twelve-month deployment, she knew it would feel like forever before they saw each other again. She didn’t realize how right she was.

When Lance Corporal Brecken Connolly gets taken as a POW, Camryn hopes for the best but steels herself for the worst. In the end, steel was what she needed to survive when he didn’t. She moves on the only way she knows how—gilding herself in more steel.

Years go by.

She builds a new life.

She leaves the old one behind.

Until one day, she sees the face of a ghost on the news. Brecken seems to have risen from the dead, but she knows she can’t perform the same miracle for herself. While Brecken was held in a torture camp for the past five years, she’s been trapped in her own kind of prison. One she can’t be freed from.

The man she mourned comes back to join the living, but the girl he wanted to spend his life with isn’t the same woman he comes back for. Brecken isn’t the same person either. The past five years have changed them both. While he’s determined to put the pieces back together, she’s resolved to let hers rot where they shattered.

Broken or not, Brecken wants her back. He’ll do anything to achieve that. Even if it means going against the warden of Camryn’s personal prison—her husband.

Tortured is Nicole Williams’ new second-chance, military romance standalone. Nicole Williams created another masterpiece. This may be the most raw story she has ever written after Collared. I’ve finished this a week ago but I still can’t write a review that would do justice for this book. (Don’t worry,  I swear I’m gonna post one this week.) If this is the first time you ever heard of Nicole Williams, read her books. You wouldn’t regret it. You’ll love her so much, you’ll start to read all her books. Trust me, I did.

THAT COVER IS TDB HOT.

THIRD DEGREE BURNS H-O-T.

That ‘V’ totally nailed it. And that ripped body, those abs, and the strong  jaw. Is anybody else getting hot? *fans myself*

I am so excited for another gut-wrenching love story by Nicole Williams. This woman knows how to hit all the right buttons, so if you haven’t read anything of hers do not miss her new book, Tortured. I can’t wait to meet Lance Corporal Brecken Connolly. April 9 couldn’t come fast enough!

NEW SERIES: Crash and Burn Series by Jamie McGuire

Yep.

You read it right.

A NEW SERIES BY JAMIE MCGUIRE!

A lot of us were left wailing on Beautiful Funeral, the last book for the Maddox Brothers series. It was such a heartbreaking ending for a very beautiful series. However, we have a new series from the some of the characters we met in Beautiful Burn (Maddox Brothers #4). Jamie McGuire brings us TREX, the first in the Crash and Burn series.

Trex

Unable to continue working under Thomas Maddox at the San Diego division of the FBI, Scottie “Trex” Trexler finds himself recruited to another government agency in Estes Park, Colorado. He just begins to find peace and feel at home when a runaway bride begins working the front desk of his hotel.

Isn’t exciting?!

For those who don’t have any idea who Trex and the runaway bride are, then you have to read Beautiful Burn (Maddox Brothers #4). We don’t have an official cover and release date yet but Jamie has finished writing it so… we’ll hopefully have it this year. Stay tuned for more updates!
