The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay

The Sea of Tranquility

Nastya Kashnikov survived a trauma that killed her once but it left her broken. Now, all she wants was to get revenge over the boy who took everything from her. Josh Bennett lives and breathes in his garage making furniture after being surrounded by the death of his family. Now, all he wants is to be left alone. Could two tortured souls save each other?

“Daylight won’t protect you from anything. Bad things happen all the time; they don’t wait until after dinner.”

I can’t imagine the pain and horrors Nastya dealt with because it’s all so horrible. I admire the strength she showed to wake up and try to live. It was not an easy journey for Nastya but it was a road well traveled. What’s beautiful is how she embraced being a new version of herself, even if it took her a very long time. I also love how despite being broken himself, Josh can find it in him to accept Nastya in his life. The fact that he could open his heart to another person after everything he’d been through is just amazing. I am really in awe with these two characters by being fierce warriors who wants to truly live.

This story is just so sad. Dreams were crushed at the early stages and deaths followed them. It was great tragedy that happened but in the end our characters found the ending they deserved. It was beautiful. It was bittersweet. It was heartbreaking. And it was everything a great story should be.
